Our Story
It began with a friendship — and a simple conversation about clothes.
We met through our children’s friendship and soon discovered that we saw clothing very differently.
One of us loved fashion, colours and styling. The other chose comfort first and had slowly begun treating style as something to think about later — when life was less busy, when she felt different, when the time felt right.
Our conversations began to challenge that idea.
Why should we have to wait for a future version of ourselves to dress in a way that makes us feel good today?
Slowly, a shared belief began to take shape: comfort and style should never have to be opposites.
From conversations to Nirrmit
As we talked more, another frustration kept coming up: so much of what we found online felt repetitive — the same prints, the same silhouettes, the same clothes appearing everywhere.
We wanted something different: clothing that felt comfortable without feeling ordinary, and distinctive without becoming impractical for everyday life.
Neither of us came from a fashion or textile background. So we started where we could — by learning.
By April 2025, our conversations had moved beyond an idea. Trips to Jaipur followed — exploring fabric markets, learning about prints and materials, and beginning the much harder work of turning an idea into actual garments.
That idea became Nirrmit.
What we are creating
Nirrmit is our attempt to make everyday Indian clothing feel a little less predictable — pieces that are comfortable enough to live in, but distinctive enough to feel considered.
We work with Indian textiles, prints and craft traditions, interpreting them through silhouettes designed for real, everyday wardrobes.
We are still learning, still experimenting, and still building. But one idea continues to guide us:
